Rich Audio To Bathe In.....

First up we have a mix from one of my cohorts amazing Dj/Producer Matt Bandy, I have snatched a bio off his myspace as im feeling lazy.. have a read while you listen/download.

Born in Flint, Michigan, Matthew Bandy grew up surrounded by the sounds coming out of the nearby Motor City and the many 45's from his parents record collection. These sounds were to become a determining factor in defining his musical approach today. Bandy's communion with house music has now brought him to international recognition. Remaining true to his musicality, Bandy has interwoven passion and originality through his creative ambitions in djing, producing, promotions, and operating a record label.

In the early 90's Bandy was introduced to Dance music through the Midwest rave scene, a melting pot of sounds encompassing Techno, Hip Hop, Disco and House. Then living in Kentucky, far from a major metropolitan area for music, Bandy travelled to parties around the country. He developed his musical tastes by pulling his influences from the sounds of Chicago, Detroit, and the East and West coasts. By the late 90's, Bandy was hosting his own events and introducing new music to his local scene. Having presented DJs such as Halo, Kevin Yost, Johnny Fiasco, Terrance Parker, Traxx and Onionz, Bandy simultaneously hosted Kentucky's first and only electronic music radio show – "Through The Vibe" on WRFL. The show continues to broadcast to this day.

In 2000 Bandy focused on writing and producing music to further his creative vision. In doing so he created the studio collaboration and live act, Deep House Souldiers. This was a successful and creative partnership with Joel Hopper, now producer for Nappy Roots. In 2003 Matthew formed Limestone Recordings and moved to Denver, CO to expand his musical horizon. Deep House Souldier's went on to release, "This Is Why We Dance," on Matthew’s own Limestone Recordings which was licensed to Ben Watt's "Buzzin' Fly Vol. 1" compilation. His label was also featured in Urb Magazine's 2004 "Next 100”. Now he has released a wide range of music on labels such as Soulheaven, Seasons, Drop, and Nordic Trax as well worked with the likes of Chez Damier, Jay Tripwire, Aaron Ross and DJ Dealer to name a few.

His scope as a producer and his love for live music has taken him beyond the House sound. Matthew, alongside bass player Casey Sidwell, was one of the creators and driving forces behind 'Know', a jazz/funk/soul band for whom he produced and performed with. Know was built from many talented musicians and featured the soulful vocals of Venus Cruz. For 2 years Know held a weekly residency which became highly regarded within the city's underground live music scene. Their events were home to some of Denver's finest rising musicians, poets and artists. Further to this Matthew was involved in hosting two of the city's most respected underground parties, Community and Afroblu.

You can find his music on compilations worldwide licensed on Defected, Universal, Om, Astralwerks, Large Records and many more. Now living in London, Matthew is living proof that no matter where one resides, originality and dedication is more important than ones locale.

Saving our London Clubs...... Ministry of Sound & Plastic People

I dont know why the council/police are trying to take away all of our clubs or mould them into some nonsense but they are. So I come to you again with the request that you pull your finger out and help to keep our clubs, OUR CLUBS.....

Now with the recent whoo haa with Plastic People you find yourself thinking whats next?? these haters (Council/Police/General Haters) have successfully got big nights shut down, certain clubs, cast your mind back to Matter on the 27th as a perfect example!!!

Anyways now the police are trying to deal with Ministry of Sound, below is the article in question and the link to get to the petition page, have a read let me know what you think in the comment box or comment directly beneath.

The future of the Ministry of Sound club has been put in doubt following a planning application by property developer Oakmayne. The company has submitted plans for a residential building on the site of the old Eileen House, which, if built, would sit opposite the Ministry of Sound building and could pose a significant threat to the club's entertainment license. Oakmayne's attitude towards preserving the longevity of the club is perhaps best summed up by a comment from its chairman, Christopher Allen, who when questioned gave his opinion that "nightclubs come and go".

We, the undersigned, disagree with you Christopher. And we refuse to just sit idly by and let this happen. Ministry of Sound is not just a nightclub. Millions of people have passed through our doors over the 18 years we have been open. 300,000 people visit us annually, bringing trade to Elephant & Castle and the surrounding area. We have always strived to create the moments that people live for, and we will continue to do so. We are the people that come here, the people that work here, the music that is played here and the lifelong bonds that are made here. If we lose Ministry of Sound, we are losing a vital piece of youth culture in this country. Nightclubs may have existed before Ministry of Sound, but they were never the same afterwards.

Ministry of Sound Group CEO Lohan Presencer said:
"When Oakmayne told us that 'nightclubs come and go', we were horrified. Ministry of Sound is not just any nightclub; it's the most famous nightclub in the world and the heart of a global entertainment business. These developers have cut corners at every stage and counter to their claims, they do not have the best interests of the local community at heart. We must do everything in our power to save our club and our business."

Something to Refresh With..

Tired of hear the same old, same old??? Broken beat just not breaking it down??? Well look no further; i have the cure and its Danny Native, long time veteran of this music game who is now just receiving the acclaim that should have been awarded years ago. Now I have heard some of the 2010 projects and wooooooiiiii, there are some serious treats for your ears let me tell you.

But before i get to the free mix etc lets just look at a new piece forth coming on Fresh Minute Music, where Danny has teamed up with the vocal talent of Sacha Williamson who has worked with the likes of Kaje, Martino, Gene King etc. Below you can hear Dannys mix, also the remix package aint to shabby either with Zed Bias & the AphroDisiax lending a hand to make this a super-charged package.

Dj T Mixing Fabric 51.......

Fabric 51 has been revealed to the world in tracklist form, now i'm not the greatest fan of the fabric comps but I have enjoyed a few of them; fabric 43 - Metro Area (November 2008), fabric 46 - Claude Von Stroke (May 2009), fabric 50 - Martyn (January 2010) & FabricLive.38 - DJ Craze (February 2008) FabricLive.39 - DJ Yoda (April 2008) to name a few.

DJ T aka Thomas Koch, who is the founder of Groove magazine, who has been Dj'ing since 1989 a true vet, is a perfect pick for a Fabric mix cd. This mix looks serious from the tracklisting , i am a fan of Koch's work so i am hoping this mix will reflect his style of production.

A Hard Days Night

Afternoon, my fellow house music lovers, today i come to you tired and very busy, i have had lots going on this morning and last night (including no electricity lol). So that is my excuse for being late getting to you!!

Anyways today i come with abit more follow up on the 10th anniversary of Soul Heaven other than my review of the night (My Review on SOUL HEAVEN)

Ten Years Of Soul Heaven Compiled & Mixed by Louie Vega Get Together Out Now'

As Soul heaven enters in tenth year it was an obvious choice to have international resident Louie Vega mix our latest CD celebrating 10 years Of Soul Heaven.

Disc one is all about the cutting edge, fresh new sounds that are popular with Soul Heaven.

"I wanted to give you new flava as we always did at Soul Heaven. It's about good music for us. There are many producers and artists creating hot & fresh music that should be recognized" Louie Vega

Disc 2 reflects the vocal house sound that Soul Heaven is famous for, while Disc 3 is a respectful and nostalgic nod to 10 years of Soul Heaven by Louie, the residents and owner Fleur Woolford, who all choose classic tracks from the last ten years, each chosen with their own special memory.

"Ten Years of Soul Heaven" perfectly encapsulates the essence of one of the world's leading labels by refusing to simply compile a 'greatest hits' CD and therefore continuing in the pioneering spirit on which the label is based.

DJ's this ones you........!

Ok i have never really caught on to this Traktor/Serato business, i guess it was a big enough move for me to be playing on cd's instead of vinyl and that was something i said i would never do!!!! Anyways so as usual i was on my journey through the web and came across this competition for the latest piece of Traktor software, which basically is meant to ease/aid the use of programs such as Traktor Scratch & Serato, now i think this is just another tool in the machine of eventually eliminating the dj but hey thats just me!.

Heres the blurb and competition, good luck...........

RA and Native Instruments have teamed up to give away three Traktor Kontrol X1 MIDI controllers.

While digital DJing has been becoming an easier, compact and more affordable solution to playing electronic music over the past few years, there still remains the problem of picking the software bundle and MIDI controller that works best. Most controllers are made by third-party manfacturers, but Native Instruments have now created their own special piece of hardware that is designed specifically for use with their Traktor DJing software. It can still be used with other programmes, including Serato, as a standard MIDI interface, but can be used out of the box with Traktor, making it quick and easy to use for DJs that aren't that technologically savvy.

With dedicated controls for each of the two virtual turntables as well as four sets of effect controls, this slick addon controller also can be used for convenient track browsing and loading plus a whole aresenal of creative features like hotcueing and looping - to create edits and remixes on the fly. To check out how it works, have a look at Traktor's MySpace. The retail version of the controller even comes with a copy of Traktor LE, so you can get going as soon as you get it home. We're giving away three copies of the Traktor Kontrol X1controller, with the two runners-up also getting a copy of the 2-deck Traktor Duo software, while the grand prize winner will instead get the higher-end 4-deck Traktor Pro programme.

MUAK @ EGG Brief Review

Ok so i was in Egg on Saturday it was full to the rafters with a good mixture of people by the time I cropped up at around 1:30. Now as you have seen previously i'm not that great with the snaps hence i only took a few lol, so don't be upset, i'm busy chatting and having a good time lolol!!!

Anyways so i roll up and who do i meet coming in none other than Osunlade himself so after a brief chat, i shoot a quick snap of him (pictured below). Anyways i walk in to the first room aka the garden (i think) and was very unimpressed by the sound system i have to say, i know its supposed to be a chillout area but a lil more sound please!! The groove in there was perfect in there though all night.

After that i didn't do much room surfing like i normally do, i stayed in the basement for the next couple of hours caught the end of Soulogic's set which really started to get the crowd going and waited for Osunlade & Ron Trent, much to my disappointment Ron was a no show!!

So Onsulade rocks up an gets the crowd going with a few bangers then played one of my fave edits (Dennis Ferrer vs Peppe Bradshaw), he kept the momentum going with deep, soulful and afrocentric/tribal beats, as the night progressed getting slightly more techy and deep, holding a groove really well. If i had to point out a negative, it would be that he played to much known crowd pleasing music & i would have expected a few more unknowns that make you wonder why you don't have them in your life!

After about an hour and a half i wondered upstairs to see Charles Webster (pictured above) who was banging out deep house all day long, the kind you haven't heard b4 and are intrigued by, i really started getting into his set in a big way and noticed he walked off (probably to go to toilet, i dunno) no sooner had he gone the music just stopped dead lol!! probably just a cdj thing, which is a horrible thing to have happen, i know from personal experience as most Dj's do.

Unfortunately that insident with Charles/my cohort playing lead me back down stairs to take in the sound of Matt Bandy (pictured below) a talented Dj/producer, who knocked out some serious tunes to groove to including his own work in the mix of it all, a very nice house journey insued which had a sit down crowd standing up for a boogie, congrats on a good job, jobbed.

Now to my suprise when i re-entered the main room Osunlade was still banging out grooves, by this point his journey was somewhere deep in the afro/tribal land of South Africa, all in all from what i heard and saw of Osunlade, Egg/promoters definitely got there moneys worth because Osunlade was pumping all night. After he had finished i stayed to see Kellilicious who knocked out some nice grooves, by which point it was 6am and unlike me i was starting to get tired (must be getting old)!!

So i rounded off what was a well worth while evening/morning, with a few goodbyes and wandered off home. I'm now trying to pre-empt the next line up!! Will Ron be on there who knows lolololol.
