Pioneer announce RMX-1000

Pioneer have put out details on a forthcoming remix station: the RMX-1000.

The system is made up of a hardware unit, editing software and a VST/AU plug-in. RMX-1000 is essentially an FX box and sampler, mapped design-wise for ease of use in club environments. The unit brings together features from other Pioneer DJ gear, which includes the Isolator from the DJM-2000 and the X-Pad from the DJM-900nexus, housed amid four main sections on the front panel—Scene FX, Isolator FX, X-Pad and Release FX. A key feature of the RMX-1000 centres on customization: all parameters can be modified using the remixbox software then saved to an SD card, while Pioneer has said they will later make available settings from some of brand ambassadors like James Zabiela and Laidback Luke. With the VST/AU plug-in there's also a studio angle to the RMX-1000, offering (obviously) a dedicated hardware controller for its bank of FX. Pioneer will release the RMX-1000 in May 2012 at a suggested retail price of 699 Euro.

Pioneer releases HDJ-500T-K headphones

Pioneer have announced the latest addition to their line of DJ headphones, the HDJ-500T-K.

The HDJ-500T-K is geared toward the entry level DJ, and both home and mobile listeners. An offshoot from the company's HD-500s released last year, the new model comes with two interchangeable cords, one of which includes an integrated microphone compatible for use with smart phones.

Like most of Pioneer's DJ headphone range, the headphones themselves also feature a movable arm structure, enabling the user to rotate the right-side earpiece as they please.

Sound-wise, the HDJ-500T-K is similar to the HDJ-500 range, with an emphasis on enhancing the low and mid-range to aid DJs with their mixing; frequency response is 5Hz–28,000Hz.

Pioneer will release the HDJ-500-T-K in May 2011 at a suggested retail price of $145.

Pioneer's new Traktor controller DDJ-T1 & Technology Debate...

Having watched the video below, it almost sickens me to think in 10 years time vinyl and most probably CDs will be fully obsolete.

Having said that I do see, maybe not the advantage of Traktor as I am not a fan but the advantage of carrying a terabyte hard drive. As a couple of weeks back I went to see my friend Karizma play down at East Village, he turned up with one hard drive and some usb cables and literally just plugged his hard drive into the CDJ 2000's an of he went.......... (great set BTW)

Now this to me makes more sense rather than Traktor and other similar expensive products as then at least the hard drive is universally beneficial and a cheaper option, as the club industry standard for CDJ's progresses this will become the future in my opinion.

By their own admission the audio is a bit rough, but this video shot by Skratchworx at last weekend's NAMM conference does at least give a pretty good overview of what the new pioneer controller looks and feels like.

Serato meets Pioneer

Serato and Pioneer have announced details of a new partnership which will link their respective Scratch Live and CDJ products.

Said to function simply through a "plug-and-play connection," Serato's new integration with Pioneer's CDJ-2000 and CDJ-900 models will grant DJs access to their Scratch Live music library via the decks' standard interface, with the option to flick between software and CDJ mode. Once the CDJs are hooked up with official Rane hardware, features such as crates, album artwork, track overviews and cue/loops point will become accessible via the CDJ's colour screen and hardware controls.

General Manager of Serato Audio Research, Sam Gribben, said of the collaboration: "The tightest integration is achieved with co-engineered hardware and software, and we are very pleased to have worked so closely with Pioneer to make this a reality. For the first time, DJs can enjoy the flexibility of software and a rich hardware display right at their fingertips."

The supporting Serato Scratch Live version 2.1 is scheduled for release in Q3 of 2010 though the Serato site, while the 3.10 firmware for CDJ2000 and CDJ900s—enabling integration with Serato Scratch Live 2.1—will be available as of July 12th via Pioneer DJ. Both will be available as free downloads.

Pioneer Rekordbox™

Again this is another product like Serato and Traktor that i dont much care for but I do however realise that nuff of you do...... so heres what Pioneer have to say....

"rekordbox™ is the best way of preparing and managing your tracks, be it at home, in the studio, or even on the plane! It allows you to import music from other music management software using the Bridge function or by simply adding them into the software for management. rekordbox™ will work out the BPM and allow you to set hot cue and loop points into the track, utilizing a full beat grid view in advance, as well as color coding your music and adding all the ID3 information so it appears automatically later on any CDJ-2000 or 900. Working with rekordbox™ also means that when tracks are exported to a USB key or SD card, the CDJ-900 or CDJ-2000 will load the waveforms instantly. The database layout within the software can be customized to suit individual DJ style which enables personalized layouts when browsing on your CDJ-900 / CDJ-2000s.

Wowzer, The DJM-2000 Mixer

With the recent arrival of Pioneer's new CDJ models, it seemed like only a matter of time before their DJM series would come in for a considerable upgrade. Six months on, and we're presented with the DJM-2000—the final part in Pioneer's quest for DJ booth status of "industry standard."

Undoubtedly the most imposing aspect of this new mixer offering is its heavy emphasis on effects. Roughly a third of the DJM-2000's interface is dedicated to the pursuit, with a 5.8 inch full-colour display relaying the results of your sonic mangling. Effects like delay, filter and phaser can be manipulated through a series of different beat-synched time intervals, while a total of six insert effects, including HP and LP filters, are available for each channel. This mixer looks set to become "industry standard."
