Review of Deep Cover @ Dex Club, Sat 7th Aug.

First I would like to say my apologies to the boys from Souled and Ms Marcia Carr as I missed their sets. But as always I was informed and I hear Marcia came fresh, with cuts from prototype to vintage and had all the djs peering over (for the names of all the tunes) so biggups Ms Carr. Then onto Souled, well the production duo always come fresh... anyone who knows their productions can expect them to run things just right and i'm told thats just what they did. Also pictured is the lovely Miss Lyric L, who touched the mic to give abit of va voom.

An so it begins as I enter around 10 ish the party is going along to the jazzy house sounds of Simon Boi co-founder of this new and exciting night, Simon always seems to know the right warm up music to play and I must say he does it very well, not to mention his ability to play a closing set, a talented Dj.

Next up we had Blue Boy, well what can I say other than he thumped the life out of it!! Blue boy was dropping that good hard deep house, with an eclectic mix of vocals thrown in there, not to mention a great tune to end on :-). Blue Boy upped the tempo and got people really going for it, another great performance from him the other co-founder of this night.

By this it was rammed as you can see, people bubbling, having a great time (just like we used). this night I have to say, brings back memories of how going out used to be and what fun you can have when there are no idiots in the dance!! Congrats on always getting that right boys.

An so it was time for Sy Sez to brace the decks and he truley played a stonker biggups to him on that, anyone there will tell you that for two hours the dancefloor was rammed with people just sweating for the love of deep house music. Sy played a dope range of tracks he went from new to old playing some classic records, those classics that were kick, snare, hat, bass, groove and done!! Nothing else was needed! So as usual a wicked performance from Sy Sez, he has obviously been taking notes from me!!! lolololol

Up After Sy was the main feature for the night Mr Paul Trouble Anderson, who played a dope selection of oldskool jams. As always it was Troubles house and the people loved it. So biggups to Trouble.

As always the round up says, WHENS THE NEXT ONE LADS????? You got a slamming night, so keep it up!! Keep them coming....

Deep Cover a brand you can trust, which has my signed and sealed band of approval..!

Review of Deep Cover @ Dex Club, Sat 5th June

Well oooook, this weekend was freakish!! It was so HOT then came the tropical rain (you know that chubby warm rain) but it was still so muggy and hot....... So glad Sunday was cooler...

Now with that in mind lets begin, Deep Cover on Sat was set to be a stonker and in alot of ways it was but as with all good parties a problem with the venue can mess with your mojo!!! Now I pitched up at 12 on the dot and gosh it was stifling inside Dex club. Simon boi was pitching some warm up grooves, fixing for Groove Assassain to come on an tear up the place.

Now before I forget Paris Cesvette let me just say although I missed your set I have it on good word that you played a blinder and let off some hot exclusives of your own.

Now the problem with Dex club on Sat was the HEAT, Jeeez. If you stood still you were sweating!! An this was making it hard for people to get their swerve on but as with all good crowds they did a good job of soldiering on!! Many took it as shift work to go between the dancefloor and the upstairs roof terrace.

Now Once Groove Assassin stepped on the party stepped up a notch playing deep soulful and dubby with the occasional sprinkle of outright soulful slammers, we were on our way to a monster jam but after a while unfortunately the heat started getting the better of everyone, which lead to an increase in the upstairs downstairs migration! But Groove defo did his job and got the party ready for Neil Pierce then to step up.

Neil then persisted to bang out tune after tune for his whole set, now for those loyal readers you will know we expect nothing less from him!!! Check the brief video for proof lol. Now don't be disheartened cause the only half the crowd lol the rest of em are upstairs trying to cool down lolol. Also a big shout goes out to Blue Boy who drove it home till gone 5am and werent having none of the bouncers sh1t about stop the music...... Go on my son :-)

As always big up the Deep Cover boys, I hear a venue change is on the cards but whatever happens boys you got a good party, great crowd, always on point with the line up, so KEEP IT UP.

Review of Deep Cover @ Dex Club, Sat 20th Mar

Ok so i turned up abit late due to other commitments, I step into Dex and immediately could tell the vibe was building nicely courtesy of PowderSoul. Playing some wicked classic house trax and opening nicely for Phil Asher.

Then came Phils turn, as always a solid performance from the machine that is Phlash, playing some serious new pressure and some oldskool heat which had the crowd eating out of his hand setting a good stead. Phil played through his two hours with a solid performance as always and really worked the crowd up to hear Andy Ward building the pressure brick by brick in the house.

Also I have to mention the crowd was excellent, a nice mixture of people all there for the love of house music, Just like it used to be, so well done the Deep Cover lads for making that happen.

So Andy Comes in and immediately turns up the pressure playing some serious new heat and afro pressure, check out the little video of Andy getting 'em going.....

Andy played a solid little set keeping the crowd moving through old classics and new heat with an edge of afrocentric beats, the crowd was feeling his selection but what more would you expect from a Soul Heaven Resident??. Biggups to Andy & Phil for representing.

Blue Boy came in with some real soulful and deep house, at first I thought it was a real change and he might loose the crowd but he really got them going, getting deep and darker as the night went on. Playing a very educated house set, showing his knowledge and love for the music.

Simon Boi, well i have to be honest i left before hearing him mix, I had an overdue appointment with my bed!! But what I will say is : WELL F*CKING DONE FOR PUTTING ON A GREAT NIGHT, really giving south london a night to call its own.

Deep Cover will be receiving full support from myself and I fully encourage you to go down if you missed this one. Also I may try to arrange a discount, for all people who read this blog and stay up-to-date.... but we will see..... Hopefully there is lost to come from the boys at Deep Cover, Congrats lads.
